Vowalon Celebrates Topping Out Ceremony!
Construction of the new logistics hall continues to progress
The civil engineering work for the new logistics hall at the production site in Treuen only began in spring 2019 - due to the rapid construction progress, we were able to celebrate the topping-out ceremony on August 7th, 2019. The guests included Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) as a special guest of honor as well as other representatives from politics, the textile industry as well as planners, construction workers and craftsmen.
With an investment of EUR 5.5 million, we are specifically expanding our storage capacities for raw materials and finished goods through the new building. “This not only serves to ship goods to our customers more quickly, but also enables the redesign and optimization of internal production processes,” says Gregor Götz. At the same time, the mixing production area is also being expanded, bringing the investments since the company was privatized in the early 1990s to over EUR 50 million.
In his speech, Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer praised the development of the family-run company: “Vowalon has written a Saxon success story. Since its new beginning, the company has developed into a high-tech company in an industry that many had already written off after the fall of the Berlin Wall. This was also made possible through the support of the local authorities and funding from the Free State, but above all through entrepreneurial courage, foresight and a highly motivated team. Today, the textile industry is once again one of the sectors of the future in Saxony. There is great growth potential, especially in the area of technical textiles. Vowalon is an example of this successful realignment.”
Completion of the logistics center is planned for the anniversary year 2020 - here Vowalon is celebrating 120 years since it was founded by manufacturer Bernhard Maerker in 1900.
